Her main research area are advanced delivery systems for dermal application. Her work in this field focuses on two segments, namely:i) development and structural evaluation of novel dermal delivery systems based on association structures of surfactants (with main emphasis on liquid crystals), evaluation of stability and dermal delivery of API or cosmetically active ingredients;ii) biocompatibility evaluation of novel delivery systems on cell lines.
She has presented her research work at several scientific international meetings. Together with her professional colleagues she has published articles in national and international journals, where she is also a reviewer. She participates in various industrial projects.
She is a member of the Faculty Ethics Commission and the Slovenian Pharmaceutical Society.
Mirjam Gosenca Matjaž was born in 1983 in Novo mesto. After finishing Gimnazija Črnomelj, she studied at the Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Ljubljana, where she received the Master of Pharmacy degree in 2007 under supervision of Prof. Dr. Mirjana Gašperlin and co-supervision of Prof. Dr. Aleš Obreza. In 2007 she got employed at Faculty of Pharmacy and was also elected for the first time as the assistant for the Pharmaceutical technology. In 2008 she entered postgraduate study of Biomedicine - scientific field of pharmacy. She received her PhD in 2011 with the defence of the dissertation entitled Formulation and evaluation of lecithin based microemulsions and liquid crystals as dermal delivery systems for ascorbyl palmitate under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Mirjana Gašperlin.
