Dr. Simon Žakelj, asist. prof. was born in Ljubljana, Slovenia in 1976. He studied pharmacy in Ljubljana from 1995 to 2000 with a scholarship for future scientific workers in pharmacy. He began the postgraduate study of biomedicine in 2001 and finished with a PhD in 2006. During this period he was employed as a young researcher. The focus of his postgraduate study was in variations of in vitro conditions for specific intestinal permeability evaluations and passive paracellular drug permeability. He continued to work at the Faculty of Pharmacy (University of Ljubljana) as a researcher and an assistant for biopharmacy and pharmacokinetics. His academic research was mainly focused on drug-drug and drug-food interactions during drug absorption processes, intestinal drug efflux and biopharmaceutical drug classification and resulted in several scientific publications. He was habilitated as an assistant professor for biopharmacy and pharmacokinetics in 2010 in University of Ljubljana. |
