| She is the professor at undergraduate and postgraduate study programmes. She teaches at courses for Pharmaceutical Technology, Nanotechnology and Cosmetology. She has also been supervisor to students in Diploma Theses (85), Master of Science Theses (8), Specialization in pharmacy (5), Ph.D. Theses (11) and students receiving awards for research work (5).

| Professor Kristl's main research interests include advanced drug delivery systems, nanomedicine and their effect on cell structures in the frame of Center of Excellence Biotechnology and Pharmacy, and EU FP6 and ARRS programmes and projects.
Her research activity has resulted in more than 160 scientific papers published in national and international scientific journals, numerous invited lectures and reports at scientific meetings.

| Her international scientific collaboration includes membership in the SFD, CRS, APGI and APV, memberships in the editorial boards (Journal of Drug Delivery Science and Technology, Ars Pharmaceutica, Journal of Biomedical Nanotechnology) as well. Additionally, she is the reviewer for 27 SCI-indexed journals, and the referee for Ph.D.theses at foreign universities and research projects from different agencies. In the last two decades she was also actively involved in the management of the University of Ljubljana. Since October 2005 she has been serving as the Vice-Rector for education at the University of Ljubljana and is responsible for introduction and implementation of Bologna programmes, their quality and accreditation. Among other she served as the Vice-Dean in the period 1991-1995, and as the Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy University of Ljubljana from 1999-2003, and as the Head of the Chair for Pharmaceutical Technology 2003-2005. She has been involved actively in the organization of national and international conferences. Professor Kristl held many important positions and was also the member of the Council for Science and Technology of the Republic of Slovenia 2003-05 and the member of the Health Council of the Republic of Slovenia 2003-06, and again from 2012 -. She has served as a consultant and/or member of the Medical Products Committee at the Agency for Medical Products of the Republic of Slovenia.
