Michaela Barančoková was born in 1991 in Liberec, Czech Republic. She studied at the Faculty of Pharmacy in Hradec Králové, Charles University in Prague. In 2014, she participated in Erasmus+ program at the Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Ljubljana. In 2015 she successfully defended her diploma thesis "Characterisation of Gyrase inhibitors using ITC and enzymatic assay" and in the same year she enrolled in postgraduate studies at the Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Ljubljana under the supervision of prof. Danijel Kikelj. She is working on the European project INTEGRATE funded by the Marie Curie ITN scholarship. Within the project she also participated in secondments abroad, in Taros Chemicals GmbH, Dortmund, Germany, and at the University of Cambridge, UK. She works as a researcher at the faculty on her doctoral thesis “Design, synthesis and evaluation of novel DNA gyrase B inhibitors with antibacterial activity”.
