Imaging flow cytometer Amnis ImageStreamX Mk II

Contact:

Assoc. prof. Martina Gobec, M. Pharm., Ph. D.

Access:

Equipment is available at the Faculty of Pharmacy, Aškerčeva 7, 1000 Ljubljana. Access to equippment must be agreed with supervisor of the equipment. Due to delicate nature of the equipment supervisor must be present through whole ageed working time on the equipment.

Intended Purpose:

Imaging flow cytometer provides users with the ability to gain detailed images of a large number of cells in a relatively short period of time. It enables the analysis of desired phenotypical properties, which are previousl labeled with flourescent dyes (e.g co-localization, internalization, stem cell differentiation, and cell-cell interactions).

Description of equipment:

The device allows you to simultaneously capture up to 12 images per event (cell) in three different shooting modes: light field, dark field and fluorescence. Despite recording speeds of up to 5,000 events per second, the ImageStreamX Mk is characterized by high resolution and high sensitivity. The imaging flow cytometer is intended for all applications capable of a conventional flow cytometer. The added value of capturing samples with ImageSteamX Mk II is in the visualization of captured events, based on which, using the default and additional masks in the IDEAS® program, we select suitable events (appropriate format, size, singlets, etc.) for further analysis. With the ImageStreamX Mk II cytometer we can qualitatively and quantitatively evaluate morphological changes (shape, size, fragmentation, etc.), cellular processes (mitosis, apoptosis, autophagy, internalization, etc.) and expression, localization and colocalization of cellular markers. At the Department of Clinical Biochemistry, ImageSteam Mk II is used to determine prognostic markers and study the mechanisms of cancer resistance, analyze the interactions of cancer cells with tumor microenvironment cells, monitor immune cell differentiation and evaluate the action of new immunomodulatory and anticancer agents.

Price of equipment use

Use is € 31,15 per hour.

The equipment is cofunded within the scope of Operational Programme for the Implementation of the EU Cohesion Policy and Slovenian Ministry of Education, Science and Sport. Research Equipment is (co)funded by the Slovenian Research Agency.
