Assoc. Prof. Mojca Lunder, Ph.D. graduated in 2002 and received her PhD in 2008 at the Faculty of Pharmacy, UL. Since 2003 her work has been a combination of research and teaching activities at the Department of Pharmaceutical Biology, UL FFA. Her research interests project in several areas. She is engaged in the identification and development of new immunotherapeutics based on short peptides, mimetics of allergen epitopes and the determination of their potential in immunotherapy. She examines antigen-antibody interactions and the role of these interactions in the clinical manifestations of antiphospholipid syndrome. An important part of her research work is also focused on the identification of enzyme inhibitors involved in nutrient absorption and inhibitors of hormone action involved in weight regulation. She demonstrates her scientific-research competence with numerous scientific publications, and their international impact with citations. In cooperation with the UL and the FFA, she is involved in knowledge transfer and protection of intellectual property for innovative and economically promising inventions. She is the co-inventor of three granted patents (one EPO and USP). She is also a two-time recipient of the Rector's Award for the best innovation of the UL (2010 and 2019). Since 2003 she has been participating in practical work and lectures at various courses of Pharmacy programme EM FAR (Pharmacognosy, Pharmaceutical biotechnology, Nutritional supplements), Industrial pharmacy programme S2 INF (Pharmaceutical biotechnology I and II), Cosmetology programme S1 KOZ (Biotechnology in cosmetology, Cell biology with genetics), of Laboratory biomedicine programme S2 LBM (Medicines) and of UL BF, Biotechnology programme (Biotechnology of active substances). She has mentored or co-mentored many diploma students, master's students and doctoral students. Under her mentorship or co-mentorship, students received 3 Krka awards (one large) and 2 Prešeren awards (one of them university award). She lectured and researched at the Faculty of pharmacy of Comenius University in Bratislava and at the University of veterinary and pharmaceutical sciences in Brno. She participates in numerous expert commissions and committees (member of the FFA Management board until 2018, member of the Ethics committee for animal experiments, member of the Commission for pharmacopoeia and for the preparation of the National supplement to the European pharmacopoeia, member of the evaluation group in the UNESCO-LOREAL Committee "For Women in Science" and a member of the group for the preparation of the Slovenian Pharmaceutical Terminology Dictionary). With numerous popular and professional publications, she strives to bring science closer to the general public. She is also a two-time recipient of the ZRC SAZU Award “Prometheus of Science for Excellence in Communication”. |
