Assist. Ernest Šprager, mag. biokem

Ernest Šprager was born in 1994 in Maribor. He studied biochemistry at the Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical Technology at the undergraduate and master's level. He completed the study in 2020 with a master thesis in the field of synthetic biology: Production and characterization of modified forms of protein gas vesicles in E. coli, under the supervision of prof. dr. Mojca Benčina. He is enrolled in a doctoral programme Biomedicine (field of pharmacy) at the University of Ljubljana. He is employed as a researcher at the Institute of Pharmacy (Faculty of Pharmacy), and is doing most of his work in Lek Pharmaceuticals d.d. in Mengeš at the department DSP Development. The focus of his work is identification and characterization of HCP (host cell proteins), which are process-related impurities derived from a host organism, used for the production of therapeutic monoclonal antibodies.
