| The main objects of his scientific work are medicinal plants, but he is also involved in research of animal and plant physiology, analytical chemistry and molecular biology. In last 5 years he published 29 scientific articles. Apart from the scientific articles he also wrote over 60 articles on medicinal plants for popular science journals.

| Member of committees: - Committee on Herbal Medicinal Products, HMPC at European Medicines Agency (EMEA) (since 2005) - Working Party on Community Monographs and Community List, MLWP at EMEA (2005 to 2007) - Committee on OTC drugs, Slovenian Public Agency for Medicinal Products and Medical Devices (vice-chair). Member of societies: - Slovene society of natural sciences, since 1987 (member of executive board and a secretary 1999-2005). - Slovene pharmaceutical society, since 1991. - Slovene botanical society: since 1998. - European Phytochemical Society, since 1998.
