The Faculty of Pharmacy (FFA), University of Ljubljana (UL) is the only university organization in the Republic of Slovenia for study of pharmacy and laboratory biomedicine. Its activities comply with the National Higher Education Programme of the Republic of Slovenia and with the Higher Education Act. The Faculty of Pharmacy follows the concept of scientific pharmacy and clinical biochemistry, and considers research and study as two inseparable parts. Students of FFA are intensively stimulated to participate in research work in the second half of their study, which results in excellent and highly motivated graduates. 
By European standards FFA is a medium-sized faculty. Yearly it admits 145 students of Uniform master’s study programme Pharmacy, 40 students of University study programme Laboratory Biomedicine, 40 students of University study programme Cosmetology, 40 students of Master’s study programme Laboratory Biomedicine, 25 students of Master’s study programme Industrial Pharmacy,  and about 30 students of 3rd cycle of Bologna study programme Biomedicine. In the academic year 2011/2012 FFA had 1542 students who come mainly from Slovenia. 
Uniform master’s study programme Pharmacy with the degree title magister/magistra farmacije (Master of Pharmacy) gives excellent employment opportunities and enables graduates to continue with doctoral study programme Biomedicine. The programme of the uniform master’s study programme has been prepared in accordance with the Directives 85/432 EEC and 85/433 EEC since Slovenia became a member country of EU. In this way the profession of a pharmacist is automatically recognized in all member countries of EU.

University study programme Laboratory Biomedicine - 1st cycle; lasts 3 years (6 semesters) and comprises 180 ECTS. The academic title awarded to the students is diplomirani inženir / diplomirana inženirka laboratorijske biomedicine - dipl. ing. lab. biomed. (Bachelor of Engineering in Laboratory Biomedicine).

University study programme Cosmetology lasts 3 years (6 semesters) and comprises 180 ECTS. The academic title awarded to the students is diplomirani kozmetolog (UN); dipl. kozmet. (UN) (Bachelor of Cosmetology).

The Industrial pharmacy master’s programme consists of 2 years (4 semesters) of studies and comprises 120 ECTS in total. Academic title awarded to the graduates is Magister/Magistrica industrijske farmacije (mag. ind. farm.) (Master of Industrial Pharmacy).

The Laboratory Medicine master’s programme consists of 2 years (4 semesters) of studies and comprises 120 ECTS. Academic title awarded to the graduates is Magister/Magistrica laboratorijske biomedicine (mag. lab. biomed). (Master of Laboratory Biomedicine).

Within the University of Ljubljana doctoral programme Biomedicine, the Faculty of Pharmacy offers a three-year doctoral study programme with 180 ECTS in three fields:
• Pharmacy
• Clinical Biochemistry and Laboratory Biomedicine
• Toxicology
A doctoral degree study programme at the Faculty of Pharmacy is carried out within the University Doctoral Programme Biomedicine.
